Thanks to a tweet of fellow ECM MVP Marius Sandbu I was triggered that yesterday the new version of the Citrix Connector for Configuration Manager 2012 was released.
Last year I spend some time on and blogged about the earlier version of the Citrix XenApp Connector. If you ask me a very nice addition to Configuration Manager 2012 and Citrix XenApp or Citrix XenDesktop if you need to manage both. With this connector you are able to manage the Citrix farms from a single pain of glass, the Configuration Manager console 🙂
This version supports XenApp, XenDesktop 7.1 and XenDesktop 7.5. So this means more testing and new blogs are coming up in the next couple of weeks/months 🙂
This new release of the connector supports the following key features (source Citrix website):
- Use a single Configuration Manager Site to manage one or more XenApp and XenDesktop 7.5 Sites
- Use a single Configuration Manager Site to manage one or more XenDesktop 7.1 Sites
- From the Configuration Manager Console:
- Deploy MSI, App-V and ScriptDT apps to XenApp and XenDesktop 7.5 or XenDesktop 7.1 client and server OS Instances
- Deploy apps to PVS and MCS catalogs as well as to manual Server and client OS catalogs
- Manage reboot orchestration of PVS and manually provisioned catalogs
- Publish applications to XenApp and XenDesktop 7.5 and XenDesktop 7.1
- Designate an Update Device to select a master image provisioned by MCS or PVS
- Use detailed pre-flight publication checks, which prevent unnecessary errors and provide improved status
- View Machine Catalog properties
- Collect Citrix Virtual Desktop Agent WMI properties into a Hardware Inventory report
- Optionally enable Configuration Manager to deploy XenApp and XenDesktop 7.5 Deployment Types to Configuration Manager Software Center and Application Catalog
- Seamlessly integrate with the XenApp 6.5 Connector for System Center Configuration Manager 2012 and StoreFront Application Aggregation
- Participate in the Citrix Customer Experience Improvement Program (CEIP)
The connector can be downloaded here. If you want to read my earlier blogs about the Citrix XenApp Connector for Configuration Manager, be sure to check the blogs below:
