A little more than a month ago we had with the Windows Management User Group Netherlands the pleasure to host Wally Mead at our Friday Afternoon Drink. As always Wally takes a lot of questions and whishes home and take action if appropriate. Earlier last month shared his answer about the question if the Cloud Distribution Points and the Distribution Point in Windows Intune are also reported in the new Distribution Point usage point.
In the summary below Wally consolidated all his comments and feedback. If you want to review the slide decks, have a look here!
Comments/feedback included (items filed as appropriate):
- Want support for cluster aware patching *** Submitted as a DCR for future consideration
- Want to know if the Windows Intune DP (manage.microsoft.com) would appear in the “Distribution point usage report”. *** Found out that it does not appear in the report
- Want to ensure that our solution would be able to accommodate new versions of phones quickly. The scenario the customer presented was that in their Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 site, when they upgrade to iOS 7, they can no longer apply the password policy *** They are supposed to work. We treat iOS 7 as iOS 6 currently, so if a policy worked on iOS 6, it should still work. Would need to open a case with CSS.
- Want a single portal for on-premise and mobiles *** Submitted as a DCR for future consideration
- Want SQL Always On support *** Submitted as a DCR for future consideration
- Want our console to go directly to the content or application status when clicked (today it goes to the generic Content Status or Deployment status pages – that’s OK with a handful of each, but when you have lots of DPs or deployments, it gets harder to search) *** Submitted as a DCR for future consideration
- Want an in box solution for modifying a package content location during migration instead of having to rely on a 3rd party process *** Submitted as a DCR for future consideration
- Need a way to change the display name of mobile devices once enrolled. This was the customer who had 1,600 iPhones, all displayed as ‘iPhone’ in our console *** Submitted as a DCR for future consideration
- Want the on-premise SSP to show enrolled devices like the mobile SSPs do *** Submitted as a DCR for future consideration
- Want a way to upgrade the ADK instead of having to manually uninstall then reinstall a new version *** Submitted as a DCR for future consideration
